What codecs for mpegs?

I can´t get my mpg´s to play with Powerdvd or mediaplayer. What codecs do i need to playback all existing mpg-files?

By virtue of being a full-blown software DVD player, PowerDVD cetainly should be able to play ALL MPEG formats, without requiring installation of any additional codecs...

ok! That´s what i thought but it still doesnt wor in either mediaplayer or poerdvd.

the file might be corrupted, try to re-encode with a tool like virtual dub...
