    Editing MPEG files

I downloaded a file that has already been compressed but I need to edit it and take some extra parts out of it. I am familiar with VirtualDub but it will not allow me to save a mpeg file, although it allows the editing. Am I doing something wrong with VirtualDub? Is there another editing program I can use? Any help would be great!

Virtualdub will read the mpeg file fine but will only resave your changes in an AVI container.

In what way do you want to edit the mpg?

      Try TMPGEnc as follows:

      TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Cut & Merge

I figured it out, I was mainly having codec problems, once I fixed that I had no issues. Know of any good audio editors, I have a really high pitched sound on one of my files that is really annoying.
