Ripping bonus material on a DVD

    Hi,

I want to export a part of a DVD - a bonus material clip of about 3 minutes. I have used Super DVD Ripper but the question is to find in which .VOB file this clip resides.
I know it is in Chapter 3, but that does not mean it is the .VOB file with index 3. Is there a way to figure this out ... by:
    A) Viewing the content of .IFO files so I can see which file is used for chapter 3?
    B) Using a tool that shows the actual file accessed when I play the DVD with PowerDVD?
    C) Another way????

    Please help me.

    Tx

If you have difficulties in finding
the desired moviepart try to open
the DVD with DVDx 2.xx or higher.

Don ´t use the Open DVD root in file menue use the Open Mpeg option.

It is helpful to know at least in which *.ifo
      structure the desired file resides.
(By looking quickly into the DVD with "OpenDVD root" option you can exclude
at least the *.vob files that contain the main movie; normally the one with the longest running time)

      If not possible to determine:

With " Open Mpeg mode" you can step by step
open every single *.vob file one after the other and once the import process is done preview it with the integrated player.

Once you found your desired part note the diplayed timestamp. Set Dvdx to the timestamp with the clock shaped jump button. Then set the encoding duration to 4500 frames for Pal or 5400
frames for ntsc in settings--> output settings (this will result in a a 3 min. movie; adjust value if neccessary)

choose desired codec, bitrate , resolution, hit "apply"
choose destination in "File" menue and start encoding process.

There are sure other methods to determine in which *.vob your desired movie part resides and sure quicker ones. (eg. some sort of vob file viewer)

But once you found it it is one ofthe shortest methods to rip a very small part out of a dvd without decrypting and ripping it completly to hard disk.

DVDx is easy to use but not intuitve.
refer to the manual if problems occur.
