    ripping vcd's

I recently bought a cd that has 4 music videos on it and it plays as a vcd. how do I go about ripping it so that I can eventually convert them to an avi file?

thanks for the great site, but I figured it out already.

I just went through all the files on the cd and found some .DAT files that I could open in WMP and they just happened to be the music videos I was looking for.

use VCD gear to change the .DAT files into MPEG1 video.
you can then re-encode the MPEG1 in any format you wish

the DAT files are running as normal mpgs in media players, so all u have to do to view them anywhere is rename *.dat to *.mpg

^^^yeah, that's basically what I did. I just copied the dat files to my hd, and used tmpgenc to convert them to svcd format and then I'm using gordian knot to convert those svcd files to avi.

the intermediate step you've performed, of converting the MPEG1-VCD file to SVCD, is of no benefit and can be eliminated...
