    Xvid problems with BS Player

Good Afternoon to all of you.
Now I am the newest guy around here so try to be as
    nice as you can
I have searched the forum and I getting confused about
what to do (there are so many nice alternatives that I've
lost sight...) Annyway : I need to know a coupla things.
I can play an Xvid Movie in WMP 9 but not in BS player.
Now when I run the file in Gspot it says that all codecs
are installed in order to play this movie. In BsPlayer it 's
just garbled black with green fuzzy ends (sound works
fine though) I've seen alot of threads that discusses this
issue but I wonder why BS player doesn't reccognize the
right Codec when it clearly does exist on my computer.
WMP9 plays eveything I've got and BS Player plays all
BUT This one ! Could I possibly have too many Codecs
installed or can it be that I need to Reinstall BS Player ?
(got 0,86 ver 498 build installed..) If I have too many
codecs (50 odd gspot says) How do I Uninstall all of them
    and start all over. ?

OK Chickeneater, I will. What exactly is ffdshow?
I mean is it a set of codecs or is it something else.
I see references to this all the time but if it is codecs
I am almost sure I've got the right ones for the movie
Gspot tells me I have 2 Video codecs that can play the
movie and 3 Audio codecs to hear it so it should work.
      It just doesn't
How can I unistall all av my codecs and start from scratch?

      Thanks in advance

          you're welcome!

ffdshow is a playback filter which can decode several different types of codecs
