A little help to a "newbie" in this...

I posted a thread some days ago but there was no reply... so im changing to this forum to se if there is any... Im not a newbie at divx encoding but i am a newbie at recording from tv to my computer, so i was wondering what do i need in order to do this? I was watching a new toshiba laptop model that is capable of recording directly from the tv, without the need of any other exterior help...
Si, if somebody read this, please, just the basic stuff like what do i need, i will able to do the rest...
    Thanx for your atte.

It must have a Video In card. If you can't open your box to install one you can get external hardware ( like Canapus or Pinnacle DVC-150) which will accomplish the same thing thru a USB2 port. If you already own a DV Camera you might be able to attach it to the vid out on the TV and feed it into the PC thru the firewire.

Thanks, that really help me, but, what do you think of this laptop i mentioned? The Toshiba with the ability of recording from tv directly, it costs around 2500 dollars, is it worth it? Or you just can get a normal laptop and attach it an external hardware...
