converting dvd with tmpg

ive got two seperate avi files i want to convert to dvd.
with somee good advice i got from this forum im useing tmpg to convert them both to dvd and after ill attempt to merge them also with tmpg.

ive also notice when converting them to dvd it also takes the wav out seperatly.

do i have to multiplex the wav with my converted video?

and after i finally merge the whole thing together do i have to use dvd author to make the correct dvd file's?

as im a bit new to this id appreiciate some advice.

No - because,

Yes - and when using TMPGEnc DVD Author, load the videostream and the .WAV that you've created...

1) The merge function of TMPGenc is its achilles heel. It's very buggy, and I have yet to have it successfully merge an MPEG, myself. The freeware HJSplit has an excellent MPEG2 join program (you have to rename the files...read the instructions.) (2) It's been a while since I've used the Wizard...what exactly happened? You say it demuxed the sound out and gave you an m2v and a wav file when you tried to convert the AVI to DVD? If so, load the .wav into the audio window on the main screen of TMPGenc...click "start" and it'll convert it to .mp2....then go to "File">>MPEG Tools>>SimpleMultiplex...select MPEG2 Program VBR...load m2v in video source and mp2 in audio source and hit run. (3) TMPGenc DVD Author (different from TMPGenc) is an excellent authoring and burning tool (you wont need nero).

You could be - Because there's no need to merge the two video files BEFORE using TMPGEnc DVD Author.

1) If they are of identical formats, TMPGEnc DVD Author will gladly accept them for input (one after the other) to ONE "new" track

2) If they are of differing formats, in any way (video and/or audio), TMPGEnc DVD Author will accept them for input as TWO consecutive "new" tracks

this is what's happening.

i first took the wav out of each avi file with v.dub.

i then loaded the avi and the wav into tmpg and chose dvd pal as what i wanted it to be.

it started to encode the avi,but when i looked in the ouput folder it was going into i found it was encodeing the video and there was also a seperate wav file it was converting.

i just want to know do i multiplex the wav with the video when its finished?

and then when the second avi is converted and the wav multiplexed do i then multiplex the two seperate parts together with tmpg?

or is there a better way?

im just confused as that means im left with two converted avi's and two converted wav files to put in dvd author.

will dvd author multiplex them all together then?

ive just checked and it seems when i put one of the converted avi's in dvd author it automatically loads the wav aswell.

but it looks like to me i have to multiplex the two video files together.

It will multiplex the first videostream with the first audiostream when you select each one (Via "Add file").

Then, if the the second set is IDENTICAL in format (BOTH video and audio), you can select each of them (via "Add file") to be added to the SAME track.

If they are not IDENTICAL, simply click on "Add new track" and then click on "Add file" to select the second xet of video and audio streams...

You are using the wrong terminology. You should be asking if it will JOIN the tho sets as one - and the answer is, for the third (and final) time:
