Newbie in desperate need of help

I have a few files , mostly D/L Via winmx

(Ie Oceans 11 2/2 & Blackhawk Down 1/2) They were titled .avi , & in windows properties

they read as a video clip.

Also in properties both read as Audio: MPEG Layer-3,55 kBit/s, 22,050 Hz, Stereo

But when i try to view them , windows media can`t D/L a proper decompressor .

so all i get is audio

I tried Nero & easy CD creator , but they were called improper formats ,

TMPEGnc V .2.02 says can`t open or unsupporrted , avi2VCD can`t open

source video file , & says i may not have a codec or direct show filter installed for

this type of video , i can decompress it with avi2VCD , which more than doubles it`s size ,

& audio is then PCM ,but i still get all the same errrors.

i`m guessing wot i need do is convert these to mpg so nero can make a VCD of them , but

i also thought AVI 2 VCD would cut the convert to an mpg out , but it wont work either

What can i do here????

do you have a divx codec installed???

if not, download a filterpack and install divx3 and perhaps 4 as well.

the pack i like most is the one from TSUNAMI and the latest version can be found on my page.
