    Please guide me!

    Hi
I have searched and read many Q & A, but still this DivX, XVid..etc, is like greek to me (and I´m Swedish).

I just can´t understand the jungle of tools and expressions that exists.

All I want is to make a downloaded file into a good quality DVD film, that can be watched on TV!

Should I buy this DivX Pro ($19.95) and hope that I can figure out what I should do, or....?

My major problem is that some of the movies that have been burned, they show these squares (are they called macroblocks?) from time to time, and that´s kind of disturbing.

Is that something that this DivX Pro can fix?
Can it also enhance the quality?

As I said in the beginning I have read articles on divx.com and here, but I just can´t grasp it

I would really, really appreciate some help!

If all you require is watching the video on your TV and not being able to carry the video everywhere you go, try using the TV-out feature of your video card (if capable). It preserves the quality of the video (no risk of compression artifacts that normally result from re-compression to the MPEG-2 standard) and is time- and cost-effective (no time and media wasted for conversion).

well I have just purchased a DVD player so I really would like to use it

But aren´t there any programs or simular there you can fix movies that aren´t perfect?

all I want is to get rid of the "squares" that are really annoying.

I remember that TMPGEnc has a setting somewhere called "Soften Block Noise" (or something like that). Search for and use it for your conversion. It might help with your macroblock problems.

        Cheers.
