Newbie Problem

Hey all, newbie here
Just a quick question about some avi files i'm having trouble playing. Basically what happens is when i try to play the file the player just opens up then freezes and after a while shuts down. I cant get video or sound. Most .avi files work for me and i have a good few codecs installed. Heres the file information from g-spot if anyone can make any sense of it i'd really appreciate it.

get the GKnot Codec pack from www.doom9.org. And get a player called GDiVX. install the codecs and the .avi should play fine.

you can also try FFdshow. has alot of settings and filters

yes! thank you ffdshow has made all my .avi files play perfectly but unfortunately now my mpegs are playing upside down?
