Mpeg playback problems - please help!

I have downloaded a series of mpeg files from my p2p client and they all played fine. Recently, certain files have now been giving me problems in that they seem to have shortened. Or at least WMP thinks they are shorter than they actually are. Some mpegs which are say 20 minutes long are now showing as only 1min and once the slider has reached the end, they still play for a while but then freeze up. I'm not sure what has happened to the files to make them behave like this now.

I've tried using other players, to check its not a WMP problem, but they respond the same.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Try a different player, such as BSPLayer or WMP 6.4.

OK, tried that. Didn't work. Anyone else have any other ideas?
