nero burn from hdd problem

MY HDD IS NEARLY FILLED WITH LARGE DIVX AND I WANT TO BURN THEM TO CD. I HAD NTI SOFTWARE THAT I COULD NOT GET TO WORK SO I NOW HAVE NERO 5.5 BUT IT WANTS TO RECOMPILE TO MPEG THAT ARE TO LARGE TO BURN. I AM A REAL NEWBIE. PLEASE HELP

first of all hit the Caps Lock ; this way it looks like screaming and there is really no need for that

What do you want
a: just get rid of the avi files from your HD ----> burn them as data on a cd-r

b: watch the moviez on your standalone dvd player ----> now you first have to convert them to mpg and then burn as vcd
