    Audio problem

    Hi

I have an avi file and when I try to play it there is no audio. I loaded it into Gspot which tells me it has AC3 audio and I do have the codec installed so any ideas why I have no sound.

    Thanks.

you need an AC3 Audio Codec.

I would guess Gspot says your audiofile is an UNKNOWN (tagx2000) or something like that, thats a specially audioformat from the Dolby Labs. Inc., and that needs this AC3 Audio filter and Codecs.

      1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

      2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

      3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Thanks guys but I got it sorted now. I do have an AC3 codec installed but of course there's more than one isn't there. DOH...
