    DVD Movies screen capture program?

I'm currently trying to find a program that can do dvd movies screendumps.

I've tried various programs that say it works, but they don't

I don't like the screen capture function in Power DVD becuase the picture looks dull and the screen ratio is different to the original movie.

What program do you use to take screen shots of dvd movies?

You could pause video and do a print screen (prtSc key) and copy to MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop or ULead PhotoImpact to trim and sharpen.

Good advice from atifish. But that option is only available in PowerDVD 5.

If you have version 4 or below, you just need to resize it back to its original aspect ratio. Irfanview is free and is very good at resizing images.

Also, in version 3 and below the capture quality is not very good - it improved a lot in versions 4 and 5.

            No problem

I only mentioned because the CDs that are bundled with DVD drives always seem contain PowerDVD version 4. But like I said, resizing with Irfanview will sort it...

              To Badmiya

              1) WinDVD - Press the "P" key to capture (It may require that you turn off (UN-Check) "Hardware Compensation" from within WinDVD's "Display" settings)

              2) If you want to follow "rsquirell's" suggestion, you'll first have to turn off hardware acceleration. Additionally, if you want to capture ONLY the video's window (NOT the entire desktop), you'll have to press and HOLD the "Alt" key while pressing and RELEASING the "Print Screen" key...

I used Power DVD. Did a hell lot of tinkering and got it working.

I followed most options here (Power DVD) but none of them worked. So I did my own trial and error and bingo!
