    Newbie: Help Please!!!

I have already posted this in general discussion but as this section is for newbies i thought i would post it here!

I want to know if it is possible to record from a vhs to vhs. I have heard it is, my friend says i need two vhs players and some special cable to join them up. Do any of you know if this is possible and how i should go about doing this.

    Many Thanks
    Sean

OK...you need two VCRs (or a VCR and an analog VHS camera with 8MM tape) connected to a TV ( the camera has a viewer.) Copy your main movie up to the point where you want to splice a scene in from the other tape and stop. Load the other tape...set it to the scene you want copied...and record. Then reload your main movie...go to where you want the action to pick up again and record.

Are you doing a PAL to PAl record?

Are you doing a VHS back-up of a commercial VHS movie?

Does your VHS recorders/players have an S-video jacks?

With the price of VCR's I would go with 2 VCR's for straight VHS to VHS backup. Unless you want to do any editing.

You dont say whether it's a commercial movie or a privatehome video. If it's commercial you'll probably need a signal cleaner of some sort, which you will find the answer somewhere on these forums. If not, like the other posts said, good quality cables between a player & a recorder.
