    mpeg problem

I have a couple of mpeg files that played perfectly a while ago. However, something has changed and now WMPlayer reads these 30 minute files as being being much shorter, like 2 minutes long. The whole file is still there I just have to use the track slider to get further into the file. But they only ever play in 2 minute chunks. Any suggestions? I can post the stats from GSpot of Virtual Dub if that will help.

    Thanks very much.

    Try the following:

    TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

Load the problematic file - and save with a new filename...

That didn't work. It just output a file that consisted of the first 2 mintues of the original. Thanks anyways.

There were a number of choices under mpeg type. I just picked MPEG-1 System automatic. The file is MPEG 1 layer 2. If that matters.

Try running them through VCDGear, mpeg -> mpeg, with "fix mpeg" checked.

That one didn't work for me either. My first instinct told me that I had downloaded something that changed the codec status of my PC. Since the situtation went from all mpegs working fine to a large number of them behaving as this manner. As opposed to a set of damaged files. Although it is possible that they have all been joined together prior to my receiving them and that improper join is causing the problem.

Hey, I tried WMplayer and Divx player 2.1. Of the fourty or so players listed on this site - are there any you would suggest? Something specifically built for standard mpegs? Thanks.
