    DVD/DivX player problem

Hi to all of you! I'm new.

I have a problem with my DVD/DivX stand-alone player. Some movies I've burned have no sound. They have great sound if I watch them from my computer though. GSpot shows me all these movie-files that don't have a sound when I put them in my stand-alone use Audio pre-compresser "AC3 from AVI XForm".

    Anybody has any ideas?
    Please?
I'd really like them to have sound when I play them in My stand-alone.

Sounds like your standalone (which probably plays DVDs with .AC3 audio properly) doesn't have the capability to handle .AC3 audio as part of a DivX-compressed .AVI. If so, you'll have to convert the audio to .MP3 or PCM (.WAV) format...

I'm afraid I have nothing further to offer you. DivX-capable DVD players are very inconsistent regarding their playback abilities...

May be there is a way to help you out. I can only give you the
advice I gave in another forum where the same problem was
postet, because I do not know how you performed audio conversion.

the problem was solved with the help of the these Tools:
          1. Vitualdub Mod version 1.5xx or higher
          2.Headac3 HE

          Procedere:
          1. load you Avi with ac3 sound into Virtualdub mod.
          2. demux your ac3 sound.
          3. save Video as silent avi
          4. load AC3 file into HeadAC3 He.
5.choose Mp3 as destination format and
          disable Two pass encoding mode.
6.in options make the adjustments regarding the Input and
output channels depending on if the source AC3 file is 2channel
or 5 channel. choose all channels available.
          7. in Downmix Type choose "Stereo" .
          8.run conversion.

after headAC3 he has done its job start Virtualdub Mod again.
open the silent avi and interleave the newly gained mp3 file with
the video The preload value should be 500 ms and interlave 1fs.

now you have an Mpeg4 video mp3 audio containing avi, that
          should not cause problems.

one last thing to mention. on startup the headac3 he converter
may find a bunch of ac3 codecs and, which is more important,
a lot of mp3 encoders that are visible to your system.
please set the Mp3 encoder you use to encode in CONSTANT BITRATE. do not set it to VBR (variable bitrate encoding).
better is that you use a mp3 codec that does CBR only.

this should work , because the resulting AVI is compatible
to MOST built in Mpeg4 decoder chips and audio decoder chips
          in Standalone players

I separeted the audio, converted it to .wav, then mp3, and used VirtualDUB to connect the audio and video again. Also had to fix synch.

            Thanks everyone for help
