Newbie in need of help...

I've downloaded the Lord Of The Rings movie off the net a few times, but I can't see to get it to work.
I've downloaded and installed the divx 3.11 alpha file and the movie plays, but no sound or picture.
I'm lost 8) ..................

Have you installed the bundled MP3 codec (or WMA) in the 3.11a? You should have gotten a dialog under category Sound, Video and Game Controller, asking whether you want to install whatever it is called, and answered yes.

Short of success, make sure that you've got WMP7 installed, whose installations will add a few new directshow codecs, which in my case, have enabled my system to play some files that otherwise cannot be played.

Otherwise, as the previous post suggests, you've got a movie with no sound.
