    MPEG-2 (m2v) Playback

    Hello,

I've searched all I can on this forum about playing m2v files but didn't find any answer to my (supposedly) simple question. I'm inept at computers so my question is this, what do I need to play m2v files? I can't get it to run on Windows Media Player 9, even with all the updates and RealOne doesn't play it either. What am I missing and how should I go about it?

    Thanks!

what error message does WMP9 give?

do you have any software dvd player installed on your computer? (like windvd or powerdvd; even limited versions would do).

if yes, try media player classic (you can find it in the software secion of this site)

i might be wrong, but i remember m2v produced with tmpegenc were video only, no sound...

      i use elecard mpeg2 player for mpeg2's

also, if you install a dvd player software such as powerdvd you're able to play m2v's no problem as they come with mpeg2 decoding software.

Thanks, you guys! I just got me the "PowerDVD" software, so I'll experiment with it. Cheers!
