    playing AVI file.

    hey guys,
I downloaded a clip in avi format from K Lite and its not playing.
i mean i have tried Windows media player, real player, divix player, but all of em say unable to read format or something like that.

i even tried to rename it to mpg format, and it still does not run...
any suggestions, i really dont want to download an 800 MB file again.

Guess its no "illegal copy" or so...

Use a tool called GSpot to know what format it is !!!

        1. download and install the latest version of "ffdshow", and try playing it again

        2. if that didnt work, try downloading a program called "divfix" and using it on the avi file... then try playing it

        3. BUY the movie

or download GSPot and check File Information, then print screen it and post it here, there will be info on the codec used or the confirmation of the file being a fake.

            Avi Files

I'm having a problem with an Avi file aswell. I downloaded a Jon Stewart episode and every time I try to play it, the picture keeps on shaking although the sound is fine.

Is there another player i'm supposed to get that will keep it from shaking.

first of all, all illegally download content from P2P is of no concern of this forum, a P2P subforum was present some time ago, but it has been deleted, as this forum does not support piracy.

i dont want to sound rude or anything, but if U've downloaded a file and it doesn't work, that's your problem.

read the sticky's available in each sub-category of this forum, there is plenty of info U will find useful, and answers for such newbie questions - there is no need to answer the same question multiple times.
