Can you please be more specific on what sort of problem you're having? Playback or encoding result?

There is no sound on playback, but there is video (divx). The DivX412 Bundle has the codec and valadator and the Playa.

You probably are trying to play a file encoded using 3.11a. Uninstall 4.12, then install 3.11a, followed by 4.12 (remember to refuse its offer to play 3.11 content). That should get you going.

Unistalled The playa 0.6.6 (Divx412bundle). reinstalled and refused 4.12 , still got video but no audio. Uninstalled again went and downloaded Divx412codec.exe from Divx.com . Didn't work no sound just video. Does the Alpha3.11 work on Win XP machines ?. When i look up the codecs i see 4.12 in video codec list.

            Yes!!!

Follow what I outlined earlier, and don't go off doing things on your own yet.

Confused ?? Which one of these did you want me to try?

                  1.Divx412bundle
                  2.Divx412codec.exe
                  3.Divx_ 3.11 alpha.zip

Bear withme going from 95 to XP is a slightly different curve.

It shouldn't be much different, using Win95 or XP, for this case. Let's just stick with XP for the sake of sounding updated.

                    As I outlined:
                    1. Uninstall 4.12
                    2. Install 3.11a
                    3. Then, install 4.12 (remember to refuse its offer to play 3.11 content). The bundle basically means there's the 4.12 codec and the Playa in it. The codec (your option 2) is the codec itself.
Whichever one you choose will achieve what I want you to do.

Actually, in order to play the file you want, it should be sufficient to do step 1 only. 4.x isn't really an upgrade over 3.11. Don't be tricked by the numbering.

O.k I have no divx installed right now. Step 1 install Divx_3.11alpha. Step two install the playa , when it asks to use 4.12 to play 3.11 divx click no. Is this what your looking for.

                              Never saw that coming...

I would just go on anyway, but to be on the safe side, do it in the Windows session that you're least likely to need {either 95 or XP} (so that should something go wrong, you won't lose important things).
