        To find out if it is in the burning process or in the playing process you have your problem - do this test;

        Download www.dvdinfopro.com (freeware) insert one of your burned disc and selelct the option "Test your media for CRC read errors" - if you only get green dots you know that your burning is ok and it is the player that causes the problem. If you get any read dots - you know something else.

          What software and procedures are you using to rip and, if necessary, compress the DVD?

            I use DVDshrink & then Nero (6 ultra edition) automatically starts the burn process.

                Block Colors

                GREEN - The green blocks represent groups of blocks with no error.

                WHITE - The white blocks represent a block that gave an error but a retry read was successful.

                RED - The red blocks represent errors that failed even on a retry.

                  thanks for the help CYNTHIA

                  Well i guess it doesnt pay to buy the cheap stuff. I got these TEON DVD-R's at Staples priced at $4.94 for a 20 pack and they are giving me the problem. So i got some SPIN-X DVD-R's from Officemax and my problem is gone for now. I still get maybe 1-2 white blocks on them but no red blocks nor does it freez or skip.

                  My lesson, Dont be a cheap ass.

                    Stay with higher quality media, such as Ritek, Ridata, and Verbatim...

                      Is there a good low price brand that will work such as SPIN-X ???

                      I would keep buying them but i only got them because they were on sale when i first bought my burner & i didnt want to spend alot on good media just to practice with.

                      Besides thoes 3 brands, what else could i get ?

                        Go to your burners homepage and see what brands your manufactory recommends.
