    DVD-RW vs. DVD+RW

Question 1: DVD+RW does not play DVD-RW and vice versa, right? Any reason to get one or the other?

Question 2: Will the home movies that I burn on DVD+RW play on my DVD player that is part of my home theater system?

Comment: Dell is now selling DVD+RW drives with their systems now.

    different formats, difficult choices

There are 4 types of different dvd formats. Right now, it is difficult to tell which of these formats will become the standard. There are slight differences in the formats and compression. You may want to check vcdhelp.com and search google.com for any information on which format would be better for you.

I know people are burning to dvd's. Roxio EasyCreator5 includes dvd authoring tools. You should check out their website, and the website of your dvd player. Also, ask the store personnel before you purchase the dvd writer.
