    Help shrinking files

Hello everyone as you can see i'm new to this forum. I have a question though, i have downloaded some movies, legally and not P2P. They are each about 700mb, they are of DVD quality. I have tried constantly to try and burn them to DVD, but after converting them they are always to big for the disk. I have Nero and a program called Sonic DVD. I usually use Sonic DVD. So yeah i was wondering if there is a program out there that is freeware that i can get to either shrink the file or a diffferent video converting program.I have WinAvi video converter already but that isn't working it works for smaller files but not for larger files. I have also tried making the file smaller by clipping off the begining and end credits but it does nothing. Please help me i am extremely desperate i just want to beable to watch these movies on my TV and not the computer.

What video format are they in now?

If they are not in a compatible DVD format, then first you would use TMPGEnc (freeware) to convert them to a compatible .mpeg file.

Then you would use TMPGEnc DVD Author (A different program than TMPGEnc) to create a structured compliant DVD.

(TMPGEnc DVD Author is not freeware, but comes with a fully functional 30 day trial I believe.)

Both programs can be download via the links at the bottom of m post.

Edit 1: Also, if the resulting compliant DVD files that you created with TMPGEnc DVD Author are too large to fit on a single layer DVD-5, just run them through DVD Shrink to compress down to where they will fit.

      hi there,
if you have Nero installed already go to their download site and get the latest versions of nero and nero vision. you can use NeroVision Express to burn you AVI files to DVD the software will transcode for you.
      hope this helps!!

NeroVision is not freeware but if you already have a registered version of Nero on your system then you won't have to pay for NeroVision!
