Something i don't understand here

Okay, this is an easy one.

I really don't get why almost all divX encoded are made between 700 and 750 mb while the biggest CDR available are 700mb.

why don't everybody make them just under 700 instead of just over 700???

Perhaps your judgment is limited by the size of your existential "universe". I can only speculate that you're referring to DivX-compressed .AVIs that you've downloaded (thereby limiting your "universe" substantially) - because I'm sure that if you were creating your own, they'd all be 700 Megs or less - as are mine (except for movies with a running time greater than two hours) ;>}

If you're not happy with their work (as would I were I in your position), you can always cut away the end credits and pray that the new filesize can finally fit onto the normal CD-Rs.

You could also stick them through Virtual Dub with Direct Stream Copy for video and Full Processing for audio and encode the audio at a lower bitrate.

This way you will knock a bit off the size without wrecking the video quality.
