    media

If I always burn at 2 or 2.4 is there any need to buy faster media?
I mean is 8x better than 4x even if I do not plan to burn at 8x?

No, if you plan to burn at 2X or 2.4X, there is no need to to buy faster rated media.

        2nd question

I have a second question. When I use shrink sometimes it only lets me burn at max while other times it lets me choose 1x 2x 2.4x etc. Also when I ask it to burn at 2x it almost always burns at 2.4x.

Are you using a trial version of Nero? If so, has the trial ended?

After the trial ends, Nero will still work but, the burning speed is limited to the slowest it can write.
