    Trouble playing backups

    My DVD player plays the DVD+R format, but sometimes I notice that when I play them it takes an unusually long time for them to start playing.Typically I can turn off the DVD player and replay it and then it works fine.
    These are copies which are taken from the original source DVD which I own and using 100 % compression.Just wondering if its normal for this startup problem to occur?Thanks

    Not a technical answer but, sometimes standalone players seem to "do as they please" upon initialization of a disc - perhaps adjusting/leveling, compensating for a slightly soiled area, etc.. As long as the disc plays back, be happy ;>}

    You might want to run a DVD/CD cleaning disc on the standalone player. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US.

    Additionally, you might want to superficially and very gently clean your burned DVD with a soft, lintless cloth (from the hub out to the edge)

          clean from the hub out to the edge radially not in a circular motion

          Edit - just so RazorBladeSlide knows not to go in circles

            Yeah, I suppose cleaning it in a circular motion could cause potential scrapes.Thanks
