Diagonal, jagged line skip in video!

    Hi,

For the last few days, any video that I try to watch in WMP or RealPlayer has this annoying diagonal, jagged screen skip. The FPS is unaffected, but it's really noticable when the screen flashes suddenly. I'm not really sure what caused it.

It first started when my brother downloaded several gigs of videos... while watching them, a Windows message said we were running low on virtual memory, and it was increasing it automatically.

I have quite a lot of space free on both of my harddrives. I also did a Disk Cleanup on both, to no effect.

I tried to do to a system restore to several dates before this problem, but alarmingly, it fails every time.

I downloaded and re-installed DivX, and the lagged line skip doesn't really show up in videos I play in the DivX Player.

Is this just a codec thing? Do I just need to download the Nimo codec pack?

    Thanks!

I do not believe it is a codec, or anything similar problem. It is in fact the original source of the video file, and how much is was compressed etc.

Hmm, well, actually, all my videos that used to run fine now run with the jagged skip along them.

        1. download & install the latest (alpha) version of "ffdshow", then play your videos.

        if problem exists,

        2. are your graphics card drivers up to date?

        3. do you have the latest directx?

        4. have you tried playing videos in other players?

"2. are your graphics card drivers up to date?"

2A) Check to make sure that your graphics card is properly and securely seated

2B) Clean out the innards of your system - Dust and gook can wreak havoc on connections

could you possibly post a screenshot of the jagged line?

It doesn't really show up when video is paused... it also doesn't really appear unless the video is running in full-screen mode.

EDIT: Nevermind, I installed the newest Nvidia drivers and videos run fine now. Thanks!
