    Capture Video to Stills

My apologies if this problem has been answered before. It's such a simple and, I think, common problem that I'm surprised I could not find an answer somewhere.

My company has a VHS tape that they produced in the late 1980s. I would like to capture stills from it for our website.

I have a Lite-On (freestanding) DVD recorder so transfering it to DVD video (VOB files) is no problem.

I've searched this site along with a few others but could not find a way to capture stills from the DVD.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    PS. I'm running XP HOME.

a further note, if you have the vob files on your pc, virtualdubmod (freeware) can take stills also...

I have Windows Media Player 9 and PowerDVD but can't figure out how to capture stills with them. Any suggestions?

As for VirtualDubMod, I searched Google and ended up at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=65889. I have no idea what to do with all these downloads. Is there something simpler for a newbie like me?

no. it doesn't get easier than this. you have power dvd use the "capture frame" button on the far left under the clock on the interface.

for virtualdubmod, with the link you found above, select 1.5.10.1 (the top one in the grey area)

How true. Thanks Columbo999. The PowerDVD frame capture function works perfectly.
