Okay, I made all of the changes in TMPGEnc.

Please, because I've made so many changes in different programs I now need to recap.

In order to make this VCD I need to do the following:
    1. Bring video into PC
    2. Bring AVI into VirtualDub
    3. Process video using 1st-pass, 2nd-pass process.
    4. Now process video (AVI) through TMPGEnc, using VCD settings from earlier note.

Is this correct? Also, can I burn VCD from TMPGEnc, or do I then take TMPGEnc output file to program that can burn MPEG to disk?

    Thanks

I don't know if it was ever mentioned but I'm using DivX 5.0 Pro. With what I'm trying to do, is TMPGEnc 2.5 compliant with DivX 5.0? The reason I brought this up was because I was reading another thread and the problem was because these two programs don't work together.

As far as I know, TMPGEnc is not (presently) able to deal with the recently released DivX v.5.0...

So I wonder if this is part of my problem when creating VCD's from large files? I'm using DivX 5.0 pro withTMPGEnc 2.5. Nothing I've tried has work. Where can I get an earlier version of DivX that will work with Win XP?

divx3 + 4 as well as the original ms v1,2 +3 work fine with xp.

go to digital digest and help yourself to a codec/filterpack
            (i prefer TSUNAMI, others NIMO)

here is a direct link to the codecs

Thanks, do I need to uninstall DivX 5.0 Pro before I install this?

Oh well, I guess you live and learn. To bad, that was thirty bucks down the tubes

I trust you will be happier removing DivX5 first and then installing the codec pack.

Okay, I Uninstalled DivX 5.0 I installed Nimo. When I opened VurtualDub got warning message about "hacked files" see attached jpg. What's that all about? Should I be concerned? To be on the safe side I uninstalled Nimo. Installed DivX 4.12. Now when I go into VirtualDub it shows 2 DivX 4.12 drivers.

                  DIVX412.dll, Fourcc code divf
                  DIVX.dll, Fourcc code divx

Which one would I use? Can I delete one?

Are you guys sure Steven Spielburg started out this way

The information about the DivX codecs being "hacked" codecs is just that, information. Feel free to disregard it...
