    Combining Mp3 and avi

Hi, really enjoy the forum, thanks in advance. I want a song to play during the video in my avi instead of the sounds that happen in the video. I used a buddy's copy of SoundForge to do it once but I don't want to buy it myself. Anyone have a suggestion for something free that can do this? Thanks. FunkyChld

It could still be an avi when I'm done, or DVD would be fine, since that is ultimately what I will burn the video to.

for avi you can use Virtualdub (I use Virtualdub mpeg2)
1 load the mp3 in Vd and extract it to a wav file
2 load the avi video file
3 choose audio>Wav Audio and load the wav file you extracted in step 1
        4 choose file>Save as Avi
5 convert to dvd compliant mpeg 1/2 (use Lt's guide)
6 author with a program such as Tmpgenc dvd author
7 burn to a blank dvd

Virtualdub is an excellent and free tool. I use Virtualdub mpeg2 because it wikk also load an mpeg file. Other than that it's basically the same as Virtualdub. Another excellent version of Virtualdub is Virtualdubmod.
