Book Type DVD-ROM or not?

for the last month I have been burning with the "book type" checked in Shrink, my player was about four years
old so I thought that might be a good thing....now I have
bought a new player, should I still have that checked or not??....

As far as I know it is still DVD-ROM for +R no matter what.

Yep - keep it checked if you use +R disks and uncheck it if you use -Rs. See What's bitsetting in my signature.
