Codecless dvd to avi converter ?

    Hello,

I have successfully used Auto Gordian Knot 2.26 to convert a dvd to an
avi file. My problem is, AutoGK messed with my previous codec pack
(CCCP). Even after uninstalling AutoGK, subtitles still didnt work. I
had to do a clean install of CCCP to get my subtitles running again.

I was wondering if there was any tool to convert dvd to avi with its own
integrated codecs (just like VLC or mplayer have their own codecs).

    Thanks in advance,

Nero Digital installs and uses dshow encoders.

mencoder is the encoding equiv of mplayer. They come together so if you have mplayer you should have mencoder. VLC can encode.

Not really sure what AutoGK would install that would effect subtitles. CCCP uses directvobsub (VSFilter)?
