VCR to DVD will not play in DVD player

Hi I am A Newbie an I am having a problem trying to burn some old VCR family videos to DVD I can burn them to DVD and they will play on my computer but they will not play on my DVD player. Obviously I do not know what I am doing this is my first attempt to do this. I have done some reading in the forum and could not find the answer I was looking for. That doesn't mean it isn't there I just could not find it.

Any way below is my set up I have learned how to capture and convert to MPEG2 and to burn to DVD but for some reason when I put it in my home theater DVD player it says it can not read it. My setup is as below

    AMD64 X2 3200+
    ASUS A8V Deluxe
    eVGA NVidia 6200 256MB
    2 - Fujitsu SCSI U320 15K RPM 74GB 0-Raid hard drive
    Adaptec 29320 SCSI adapter card
    1 - WD 120GB hard drive
    2 Gigs corsair ram
    Adaptec AVC-2010 video capture card
    Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1673S set to region 1
    Firmware SHOW-1673S-JSOD

My home theater is a Panasonic DVD Home Theater System SA-HT900 I went to the panisonic site but I could not find what codes they read.
I am using TDK DVD-R disks

I currently am using the Burning software that came with my motherboard it is interVideo WinDVD Platinum Suite it containers
    WinDVD Platinum 5
    WinDVD Creator Platinum 2
    DVD Copy 2
    Disc Master 2

I also have the software that came with my burner it is
    NERO OEM Suite
    NERO express 6
    INCD 4
    NEROVISION EXPRESS 2
    NERO BACKITUP
    MPEG-2 SVCD/DVD PLUG IN
    DVD REWRITEABLE GUIDE

I could switch to this if it is better software. Any way I do not know if I posted this in the right place or not but any help would be appreciated. If you need any more Info I will provide what I can. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

that's just about region--no help. enter the make and model # here and see what others have used with it to make sure. this info should be somewhere in the manual though.

I did a search, and it appears that your player can play SOME DVD-Rs, from reports. However, it also appears that there may be some "qualifications" to that.

First, I found a claim that the DVD player with your home theater system (the SA-HT900) is the same as SC-HT900.

Using this info, I found that your manual claims that it will play:

            "VD-Audio, DVD-Video,DVD-RAM/DVD-R 4, CD, CD-R/RW 5, Video CD, JPEG, MP3, WMA"

I am stumped at the numeral "4" which follows that "DVD-R" designation... Unless this is to try to communicate that it can play DVD-R discs if they are specifically encoded for Region Code 4. Can anyone else either confirm or repute that assumption?

Then, I did a search over at VideoHelp.com, where the data base offers some user reports on their actual experiences. Some report they were able to play DVD-Rs, but I saw a couple of troubling notes...

An example: "I was very disapointed that the player will not play DVD-R's burnt with mp3's, I used iTunes' MP3 CD option to try, and it works fine in a PC. Unit complains about invalid media on screen and says "PLAY ERROR" on disc read. Other than that, it's great."

Also, this note: "Plays DVD-R pretty good, had problems at the end of the movie (media?)"

Others noted it would play DVD+Rs (which is not listed by Pioneer as a compatible format). This is true of two of my DVD players, though, so it does occur on occasion.

Here is a link to all of the info on your DVD player, including the user's comments:

Thanks for the help It turned out my DVD player would not play them no matter how I burned them. I bought a cheap Sony and it played all five of my coasters so I guess they are not coasters any more. Now if I could just figure out how to edit and fix the color lighting etc. with Adobe Photoshop CS2 I might be able to make some decent DVD's some day.
