    Audio Won't match video

I have just downloaded a screener of Lrd of the rings Divx. Since the audio was 48 KHz I used virtual dub and extracted the audio to wav. Then I encoded it all together with TMPGEnc.

The video is fine but the audio doesn't match up. Also there are some glitches in the sound every couple of minutes. These glitches are not present in the wav file i extracted with virtual dub.

One more thing... The length of the wav file is 1 hour 30 minutes while the divx download was 1 hour 31 minutes long. What should I do??

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I assume you are concerned about the audio frequency because you're creating an MPEG1-VideoCD.

There is no need to extract the audio just because the frequency is 48,000Hz. Just load the file into TMPGEnc and, under the "Audio" tab, change the frequency to 44,100. This way, if the audio was properly synchronized on the downloaded file, it will stay that way under TMPGEnc.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      tried what you said Setarip

Thanks for the quick reply Setarip.

I tried what you said... I loaded the file into TMPGEnc and I went to settings and clicked the audio tab but.......

It was set to 44.1KHz and it was gray in the background( it wouldn't let me select it!)

I tried to encode anyways but an error came up...AN ERROR OCURRED WHEN AUDIO WAS DECODED.

      Any more hints?

      Thanks.

Run TMPGEnc. Click on the "Load" radio button (lower right). Select "Unlock.mcf". You should now have access to everything under the tabs.

If you still get an error message about the audio, do the following, so that more information can be observed:

        1) Load the file into VirtualDub

        2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

        3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

          Here's the Vdub specs

It didn't work. I got the same error message.

when I loaded the file into Virtualdub this message came up

          VBR AUDIO STREAM DETECTED

virtual dub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source avi file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 59633ms of skewfrom the video stream. If this is unacceptable decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 139.8 +/- 33.2 kbps)

          Here is the file information......

          Video stream

TMPGEnc cannot process Variable Bit Rate .MP3 (MPEG Layer 3) audio. Therefore, do the following to Convert .AVIs with VBR-MP3 Audio:

Simply use VirtualDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into VirtualDub
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close VirtualDub and restart it
            Set "Audio" to "No audio"
            Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.
