    Avi - bad video quality and no sound

    Hi. I have come into possession of a xvid avi file. I can now (after installing codec pack) get some form of video playback (very slow moving and blocky) but there is no sound. Below are some notes from various programs that could and couldnt recognize the files

    Prior to installing Ace Mega Codec Pack:
    Media Player classic 6.4.8.2
    ..xvid-tcm.[VTV].avi::Output
    Elecard MPEG Demultiplexer::MPEG4

    Most probably you dont not have a proper codec (audio/video or both)

    AVIcodec 1.1.0.4
    FileName;FileType;FileDate;FileRealSize;FileTheoSi ze;FileDuration;FileQuality;VideoCodec;vcName;vcUr l;vcDriver;vcSuppByVFW;AspectRatio;Width;Height;Fr amesNb;Fps;VSec;VSize;VAvgBPS;aStreamsNb;AudioCode c1;a1Name;a1Url;a1SuppByVFW;a1Channels;a1SamplesNb ;a1Sps;a1AvgBPS;a1Sec;a1Size;AudioCodec2;a2Name;a2 Url;a2SuppByVFW;a2Channels;a2SamplesNb;a2Sps;a2Avg BPS;a2Sec;a2Size
    ..xvid-tcm.[VTV].avi;DSH;22/04/2006;362438898;0;129;88;YUY2;"MS UYVY";http://www.fourcc.org/Codeyuy2.htm;;1;"16:9";608;336;3870;30.0;129;362438898;22476;0;00 00;"";;0;0;0;0;0;129;0;0000;"";;0;0;0;0;0;129;0

    Or

    File : 345 MB (0.0 B), duration: 0:02:09, type: DSH, 0 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %
    Video : 345 MB, 22476 Kbps, 30.0 fps, 608*336 (16:9), YUY2 = MS UYVY, Supported

    Gspot - doesnt recognize the file - unknown file type
    Video converters - dont recognize or support the avi file

    From the time I spent trying to fix this problem I begining to think all I am going to get is video and no sound or can sound be obtained? Is there a way to improve the video?

    P.S I have installed and reinstalled codecs so this might have an affect on the poor video quality.

    I eventually want to transfer it to mp3 player to watch on tv(via av cable) but first have to change formats. Is this out of the question?

    Thanks for you help

    uninstall all codec packs. open the file in virtualdubmod, under 'file' click 'file information'. post that info here
