    Problems with a .mkv file...

    im running core media player and when i try to run this file this is the message i get...


    > TCMP's Core can not render the file : C:\Program Files\AOL\[cLT]_Karas_OVA_01-03_(DVDrip_h264_Dual_Audio_AAC-5.1)\[cLT]_Karas_OVA_01-03.mkv
    > Cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found.

    does anyone know if theres a way i can fix this....or would it be possible to convert it to .avi?

    As I understand it there are two AVC decoders avialable for TCMP.
    1) libavcodec based (slow).
    2) CoreAVC (fast).

    Changing the container would make no difference. The video would still be AVC. Convert the video and the container still makes no difference since TCMP should handle say XviD in an mkv container just as well as avi. Plus if it is VFR, you can just reuse the old time codes to keep it all in sync. avi on the other hand does not support VFR.
