DMA setting on IDE-channels

Today I upgraded xp from home to prof and the dma settings have changed.

I have two primary IDE-channels and two secondary. Is that normal? (I think there was only one of each yesterday?)

On primary no1 the setting for unit 0 is DMA if available and ultra DMA mode 6. For unit 1 the setting is DMA if available and "not applicable".

On primary no2 the setting for unit 0 is DMA if available and ultra dma mode 2. For unit 1 the setting is dma if available and utra dma mode 2.

On secondary no1 the setting for unit 0 is dma if available and ultra dma mode 6. For unit 1 the setting is dma if available and not applicable.

On secondary no2 the setting for unit 0 is dma if available and not applicable. For unit 1 the setting is dma if available and not applicable.

Is this ok?

Yes, it's ok.

You have two slots in your mainboard, but each slot can be connected with two IDE devices, for a total of 4 IDE devices in your mobo.

Two primary and secondary are normal.

If no device is connected, then you get "not applicable". Your DMA is fine.

Thanks to you all... Nice that something looks good.

I wish I´d kept my xp home though. Now I can´t use some of my drivers, I get errors while installing them. (asking me to put in the xp disc, but that doesn´t help) So now I don´t have any sound. I give up. And my software for my NICE Samsung SyncMaster 940 B won´t install either...

Scaleo T. But mine doesn´t have exactly the same components as the one on the link you gave me. Here are mine: (on Swedish but maybe you get something out of it...)

plug that number into the window and you will find a lot of drivers,
most are dated 2005 and 2006, hope you have a fast download speed

Thanks! I hope that´ll do the trick.

I found the drivers, using my Notebook Acer. When I do the search on my FSC the window is blank. Now I just hope I don´t have to download them on my Acer and then copy them to my FSC... Do you have any idea why the search doesn´t work on my FSC?
