    NEC 3550A OEM flashable?

hi, im new here and to this world of computing.
    My question is:
Is the nec 3550A oem flashable to the liggy and dees firmware or do i have to get another kind of firmware that if in fact oems' need a different firmware?

I'll recieve my new drive tommorow and i have read quite abit about this drive from chewy and some other members that really had nothing bad to say about this drive. But i have no idea about oems if there is a difference in firmwares.
everything i read about oems confusses me and really doesnt go into detail.

any help with this question would be much appreciated.
    thanks in advance.

That drive should flash to L&D's firmware just fine. It is a real NEC drive, no worries.

My NEC 3550A is OEM and I have been using the 1.Y6 firmware since it came out, works great!

          Hi and

Yes depending where you are depends on wether you want it 1Y6 or 1Y6 rpc1. I just bought one of those drives myself and it works great, but I have run across some media not supported and it did an ok job with it, not great. That is ok as the media the firmware supports does wonderfully.
One note is that when you flash this drive you can no longer return it, so do a couple of burns with it, to make sure it runs properly before you flash it. The firmware works great on it however so once you know it works well by all means do the flash!
Blank Media and Burning, and Recording Hardware, have some great threads on scans and some questions i had about that burner.
If you use these forums you will not have to face that...
