from this page we can see it's good media, just too new

from this page it's obvious your firmware is over 2 years old

there's a few smaller issues but that's the main one

      CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off

Turn your DMA on. See here.

      Check your firmware.

Memorex is generally garbage in my (and others') opinion. You may need to get a different brand of media. Sony, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim are often recommended.

Sorry, double post. Listen to Chewy.

I saw the dma but got distracted by the MBI media, they make verbatim also.

good call, but let's not give up on those blanks just yet.

My own experiences leaking thru. Had so much trouble with bad Memorex discs I don't even look up the codes anymore. Good catch on that!

uninstall the secondary, that's the dvd burner

then reboot and check, should be in dma 2

then download the new firmware CG5J-patched
                    from here

extract with winrar 3.3 from here

reboot into safe mode and flash
let's fix this one first, then we'll probably need to flash the LG

but i want to see a good burn with the Memorex first(I can't believe I said that)

we're using the old drive as a training exercise, makes good practise

your hard drive is master on the primary, your dvd burner is master on the secondary and your dvd-rom(another liteon) is slave on the secondary

and when we get everything fixed unmount the virtual drive just to be safe
