AVI file to DVD Video disc ???????

    hi chaps

i have a 700mb AVI file on my computer, which plays perfectly on my computer, i thought i would make it into a Video CD to play on my TV's DVD player, but with Nero it expands to 900mb and therefore doesnt fit a CD !.

Using Nero 6 Ulta Edition I thought I could make a Video DVD disc out of it, so i then find that Nero 6 doesnt have an option for a Video DVD disc, and it tells me i should upgrade to Nero 7 and it mumbles something about MPEG4 (which i dont understand !).

So what can i do please, to enable me to watch this AVI Movie on my DVD player on my TV ?.

any help/advice will be very welcome, thanks.

its not difficult, but a little long winded - see here for AVI to dvd, http://www.doom9.org/mpg/avi2dvdr.htm here too http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm

or see here, http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd-avi.htm for AVI to VCD.

Theres a lot of one clickers out there that will do the job, Cannopus Procoder & cucusofts AVI2DVD are two that come to mind.
In my opinion, avi to dvd conversions are ok, but unless your source is top quality & maybe with 5.1 sound then i would say dont bother.
Dont get me wrong, it can be done with superb results - but the end result is only as good as the source.
You cant polish a turd, lol
      good luck

my avi files i put on a data disc with nero express - can hold 5 or 6 depending on size. when ready to convert to dvd i copy file off disk to "my video" and then do thru nero vision express. timely though, but that's what i worked out on my own. trial and error.
