Newbie with a codec problem (I think)

I recently loaded MediaMonkey on my Dell Optiplex. Since doing this ALL my audio and video files are SPEEDED UP.

Frank Sinatra sounds like a young Wayne Newton on Meth! The files have not been damaged.

I uninstalled MediaMonkey and still have the problem. BTW, If I try to play a comercial musid cd it also is speeded up.

Any suggestions? Is there any way to uninstall all the codecs and start fresh?

    Many thanks in advance,

you can take a look at your audio codecs on your machine with windows device manager, but you would need to know which one(s) is giving you problems, but they are removable.
You can use the microsoft troubleshooter - that may help.
which media player are you using now?

a system restore would be the best solution, otherwise use MPC or VLC to play, they should be unaffected if it is a codec issue
