    unspecified target error

Hi folks this is my first post on this forum.like many others i am also a victim of UTE [ unspecified target error ]
Before posting this thread i did go through some of the steps mentioned by fellow members howerver that thing is still not working.
I am using acer 3212 with 700mb of RAM

    Done
Checked DMA [ dm shows primary ide & that does show DMA ]
    Removed primary ide
Burned the DVD after letting the laptop cool down for an hour.
    installed 6.6.0.18
    disabled norton anti virus
    tried new media
tried diff kind of data [ actuall i am burning DATA dvd.]
    burn an ISO image
update firmware [ firmware not compatible ]

    Not done
    Defrag
Check disk for errors [ coz he has the same model laptop & he can burn on the same media that i am using ! ]

Here is the new log file after installing 6.6.0.18

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

In particular, change to Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media.

Is it a Toshiba computer? There seems to be a ver 1.52 of your firmware for that burner. The only problem is that it's easier to find the snowman than to find the page where you can download that firmware...

@pantaloon - MB is a manufacturing facility for Verbatims. Search for them.

Acer australia site did work howerver nothing useful there.just basic info & a good-for-nothing databse.
I also wanted to let u know that it all started when i noticed that the write speed remained at 2.4x [ greyed out ] so u couldnt change it.
Now when in nero i selected the data to be copied > clicked next > there it would tell me the default 2.4x.Now at that point if i eject the dvd it would immediately show alternate speeds.Any idea wats goin on.
