Video/Audio Sync

Can somebody please help. I have a 700Mb AVI which I wish to convert to VCD. I have split the file with VirtualDub and it is fine. I can play part one and part two with no sync problems. However when I try and encode it with Nero or TempgC the video and audio are out of sync after about 10 mins.

I would be grateful if anybody has any ideas.
