i feel really stupid but everyone is a beginner right!

I have downloaded movies off the internet and cant not figure out how to burn them to a cd-r. I know that you have to change the type of file but how. I have a hp cd writter.

Assuming it's either an .mpg or .avi file, you have to choices.

The first is to simply make a back-up file on CD, which will limit your playback options to computers only.

The second is to make a Video CD out of the movie file. This will allow you to view the video on either your computer or any VCD-capable player (Most do anyway). You can use Nero to do an automatic conversion or TMPGEnc for a manual (read: more steps to do, but also more configurable) conversion.
