What is the best to choice to make a DivX??

I´m quite a newbie and have read a lot of FAQ´s visited Nicky´s homepage, tested Flask, Mpeg2Avi,virtualdub,..., and Finally I would like you to tell me what are your experiencies and your results with the programs available out there. I´m pissed off because it seems nothing works for me aT least by now. Thanks for your replies
