    More Memory?

I am new to video encoding. I am using DVDFlick on an old Compaq with an Athlon 1.3ghz 100mhz FSB (the fastest the mobo will support). I have 512 mb of memory. I can't afford a new computer but want to know if adding any more memory will increase the speed of encoding. Thanks

More memory is good for your computer in general, but most encoding programs are very CPU intensive, so you may just have to live with those speeds until you upgrade. (I'm in the same boat, Athlon xp 2000 and dying to get a new puter!)

I am currently running 2gig of memory and it has speeded up the computer and the programs that I run.

dont spend mony on an old system like that - you wont really notice more ram for encoding in your case

Especially if it's an older Compaq, not much room for upgrades even if you wanted to,
