Help using dual layer 8.5GB DVD+R's

I've just upgraded my DVD drive to a Pioneer 112 and am having problems as it is not recognising dual layer DVDs, instead it thinks they are CD's. Is there anything that can be done to allow me pc to know that they accept them?

I've been trying to use them with Nero 6 and DVD workshop 2 - both of which supported dual layer.

something is wrong here, those are the most widely used disks and the pioneer 112 should see them?

I think I've got it sorted, I downloaded a patch from Ulead and have been told that Nero 7 is more user friendly for dual layer DVDs.

At least I've found this forum, look forward to reading and learning more here.

Imgburn is the program of choice around this parts for dual layer

I've got the same problem :

Chewy. I tried IMGburn clicked burn and the screen just dissapears but no writing occurs. I'm using imgburn 1.1.4. any help appreciated

I now have the latest imgburn loaded and it recognises the discs correctly. it'll take a bit of getting my head around sorting out the setup there seem so many more options than the older version

In this case more is way better, but it is still real easy to burn your project. ImgBurn guides. BTW, you are welcome.

I'm about to attempt to back up my In Living Color Season 4 disk using DL +r disk, my question is since the original disk is recorded on both sides are there any special procedures I need to at here to in order to back up these disk?

In other words how do I get to side B after recording side A? Thanks

Thanks for the fast reply but here is the problem I have. I have Season 4 of In Living Color which is a 3 disk set that has an a side and a b side with difference episodes on each side. How do I back up each disk onto a DL disk? Never done this before or used DL disk for that matter. Would just like to preserve my original disk. Thanks

You can join the disks easily with DVD Remake Pro's Merge DVDs facility. This allows both menus to be retained. See the site for a concise guide on doing this.
