I hope someone can help me! This problem is muchos annoying me.
So I recently got an LG DVD Rom/CDRW combo drive. It had good reviews, it worked for relatives, etc. So I got one, and the burning works just great. However, DVD's won't play back properly no matter what software I use. I've tried DirectDVD and the Maximus free one (including his online - I think java - DVD player) and they work just great for 4-6 minutes at a time before the video freezes and the audio continues. Then I have to restart the program, use the start at time feature to advance to the time and start again for another 4-6 minutes. That's no way to watch a movie! This isn't a crippleware issue, as Maximus is free, and I just can't track down the problem.
I don't _think_ it's a hardware thing, and I don't see it mentioned in any of the FAQ's or web pages, so it doesn't seem like something to do with the program.
I've downloaded DirectX 8.1 just to make sure, as well as trying the resolution as low as possible.
DMA is on for the drive. I've got an Athlon 900 mhz, 256 meg RAM, and a 64 meg NVidia Geforce 2 Ti. I don't see it being a problem there.
Can anybody at least give me a direction to shoot in?
Thanks!
