Question about regional codes.

I have this movie on my computer and everytime I burn it, it won't play on my dvd player. Wrong area. How can I fix this? I have a couple programs that I think might do the trick, I just don't think I know how to use them. Any help is appreciated.

Is this a region code problem or a frame rate problem (NTSC vs PAL)?

What region are you in and what region is the movie?

I live in CA, so region 1 I think. I'm very new to this.

I assume it's a region code problem because my player won't play it, citing: playback is prohibited by area.

Also, how can I tell what region the movie is?

What is the brand, model number and current firmware version of you burner? What region is the movie from?

This program should give all the drive info...not sure if it will give any of the region info.

It's an LG GSA-H22L (HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H22) Firmware V1.0.

How would I find out what region the movie is from?

Under the device manager I noticed that there is no region selected for this drive, but my other DVD burner has region 1 selected. Should I change it?

There is a firmware 1.01 that is Beta for your drive...

keep in mind that this is a beta firmware, but it should make your drive region free.

I just changed the drive to region one and tried burning another copy. No such luck.

So you think it's the drive that is limiting playback? I tried using PgcEdit to change the region code on the movie, but I don't think it's working. Or I'm doing something wrong.

I open the movie, then click on the region code button. I've tried changing to region free, and to just region one. Then I save dvd, and burn the VIDEO_TS folder. PgcEdit puts a folder inside the VIDEO_TS folder called PgcEdit_backup and I've tried burning the dvd with and without that folder in the VIDEO_TS folder.

Your drive should have already been set to region 1...FYI you only get so many region changes so I wouldn't tamper with that.

What program are you using for the burn and what brand discs are you using?

I have 4 changes left, and I don't see a reason to ever change it again, so I think I'll be fine. But it was def not set to region 1, it is now.

To burn I'm using ImgBurn, and the disc's are Memorex DVD-R. I have about three left and am trying to finish the pack that I bought a couple years ago. I did however burn a different movie just yesterday that worked fine.
